In an iSCSI SAN, an initiator is needed on each computer that requires access to the networked storage. An initiator is not included with the purchase of a Mac, so we created globalSAN to bring iSCSI to your Mac.
Iscsi Initiator For Mac Osx Torrent
The Kernsafe iSCSI initiator can be taken off this list in my opinion. The product is a proprietary solution, and only works with their San (Target) software. You cannot use this product for connecting to any other vendors iSCSI targets such as a NAS from Synology, or Netgear, etc. I see a lot of people talking about it, but I'd say that not a lot of people have used it. If one did, they would very quickly realise that it won't work. It does not discover any other vendors iSCSI targets at all. Looking at the forums on their website, a number of people have asked for support, but Kernsafe have finally responded with a strange message suggesting Apple are no longer providing Certificates to 3rd parties. ??
From the site's page:"Disable kext signing before attempting to install the initiator.Prior to El Capitan (that is, OS X versions 10.10 and below), this is achieved by running sudo nvram boot-args=kext-dev-mode=1In El Capitan, this is achieved by running csrutil disable at the Recover OS terminal window (see the System Integrity Protection Guide for more details). In both cases, a reboot is required."That should make it a non-starter (certainly so for any of my clients) as far as I'm concerned. Atto's software (although $195.00) has always been well-regarded and recommended.
Unfortunately, I can't log in because the initiator appears to treat an iSCSI Redirect message as an error. That's a violation of the spec: the RFC is very clear that redirect is not an error. And since my target always uses redirect, it seems I'm stuck.
I have tested the current free version of the KernSafe initiator with a WDmycloudEX4 NAS using the standard firmware for the NAS which supports creating ISCSI targets. I can log in to the target using the KerSafe initiator but I only have read access to the files. Anyone know why?

KernSafe iSCSI Initiator X is an iSCSI initiator software for Apple Mac OS X (Free license available). With the benefits of iSCSI technology, iSCSI initiator X can export an SAN device to local Mac OS X machine include: Mac Pro, iMac, Mac Server, Mac Mini and even MacBook Pro.It is very useful software in visualization industry and data centralization for small business and large enterprise.
iSCSI consists of two ends, a target and an initiator. The initiator (on your computer) functions as an iSCSI client and is used to search for iSCSI hosts and to set up targets. Targets are storage resources that are located on an iSCSI server. An iSCSI target is often a dedicated network-connected hard disk storage device (ASUSTOR NAS).
Mac and Linux devices do not provide iSCSI initiators by default. Please search iSCSI initiators for Mac and Linux devices in the relevant stores to connect iSCSI targets and LUNs on the NAS.
This section shows you how to use Xtend SAN iSCSI Initiator on Mac OS to add the iSCSI target (QNAP NAS) as an extra partition. Before you start to use the iSCSI target service, make sure you have created an iSCSI target with a LUN on the NAS and installed the correct iSCSI initiator for your OS.
I have a question for which I would very much appreciate your help. What do you guys do when you want to disconnect the iscsi target? I dragged the target into the trash bin, and it did disappear (suggesting I had successfully unmounted and removed the drive likewise you would do with any other mounted drive). When attempting to remount the iscsi target however, I got a message suggesting the remote volume was still mounted, and so seemed to suggest my QNAP NAS.
You must replace this files:iScsiCLi.jariscsicli.seciscsidiscsi.jariscsi.seciScsilmpl.jarATTOiSCSI.kextcom.attotech.iscsi.plistin respective installation places.
So I downloaded the ATTO version 4.0.1. After extracting out all the files from the install app I replaced them in their respective locations:ATTOiSCSI.kext to the /System/Library/ExtensionsXtendSAN folder renamed to xtendsan in /usr/local/libexecxtendsancli from /usr/local/libexec/xtendsan to /usr/local/libexeccom.attotech.iscsid.plist from /usr/local/libexec/xtendsan to /Library/LaunchDaemons
globalSAN iSCSI Initiator enables Mac computers to connect to practically any iSCSI storage target, using standard GbE or 10GbE hardware. iSCSI is a network protocol standard that enables the transport of block-level I/O over TCP/IP. One major advantage of iSCSI is that it can work over your existing Ethernet infrastructure. Depending on the speed of your network, an iSCSI-based storage area network (SAN) can rival the performance of a Fibre Channel SAN, and can cost far less to implement. In an iSCSI SAN, an initiator is needed on each computer that requires access to the networked storage. An initiator is not included with the purchase of a Mac, so we created globalSAN to bring iSCSI to your Mac. To get the globalSAN initiator, select an option on the right or use an SNS storage system.
For targets running Windows Server, the iSCSI initiator driver timers are available at: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\\. For details about configuring registry settings, see How to Modify the Windows Registry on the Microsoft Support site.
With iSCSI, the client machines see what amounts to the same thing as a physical volume from the operating system point of view. From a Windows client machine, you would first configure an iSCSI initiator pointing at the iSCSI host (target). After that, you would see a new physical disk in the Windows disk management control panel. You would then initialize it, partition it, then format it with whatever file system you wished. No other machine would have access to this area (at least simultaneously and ignoring advanced things like cluster file systems).
iscsi-scsi-data-cdrom.zip contains a complete log of iSCSI traffic between MS iSCSI Initiator and Linux iSCSI Enterprise Target with a real SCSI CD-ROM exported. The CD-ROM has a Fedora Core 3 installation CD in it.
iscsi-scsi-10TB-data-device.zip contains a complete log of iSCSI traffic between MS iSCSI Initiator and Linux iSCSI Enterprise Target with a 10TB block device exported. See the use of READ_CAPACITY_16, READ_16, and WRITE_16.
iscsi-tapel.gz contains some operation log of iSCSI traffic between Linux open-iscsi initiator and Linux iSCSI Enterprise Target. The target is a EXABYTE EXB480 Tape library. Various mtx operations are executed.
scsi-osd-example-001.pcap is a trace of the IBM osd_initiator_3_1_1 (an OSD tester application) exercising IBM's ibm-osd-sim (an emulation of an OSD target device). The transport involved is iSCSI, and makes use of the relatively unusual new SCSI feature of bidirectional data transfer. The trace captures the initial iSCSI Logins, through INQUIRY and REPORT LUNS, followed by a number of commands from the SCSI-OSD command set such as FORMAT OSD, LIST, CREATE PARTITION, CREATE, WRITE, READ, REMOVE, REMOVE PARTITION, and SET ROOT KEY.
NAS4Free supports sharing across Windows, Apple, and UNIX-like systems. It includes ZFS v5000 , Software RAID (0,1,5), disk encryption, S.M.A.R.T / email reports etc. with the following protocols: CIFS/SMB (Samba), Active Directory Domain Controller (Samba), FTP, NFS, TFTP, AFP, RSYNC, Unison, iSCSI (initiator and target), HAST, CARP, Bridge, UPnP, and Bittorrent which is all highly configurable by its WEB interface. NAS4Free can be installed on Compact Flash/USB/SSD key, Hard disk or booted from a LiveCD/LiveUSB with a small usb key for config storage.
2). Select device. Select a device on which to create a new VMFS partition. Enter a name, for example, datastore-iscsi. Select your FreeNAS iSCSI Disk from the list of unclaimed devices. Then click Next. 2ff7e9595c
